“You’re a Dashland, which means that you’re supposed to be successful, proud, lively, goal-oriented, and full of yourself. But that’s not you. Claire, you are unlike any other Dashland I’ve ever met. You’re such a gentle soul. You are curious, artistic, naive, generous, emotional. Things get to you and you don’t mind that you are a real person. You don’t try to hide it. That’s why you’ve got to run away with me. And that’s why I know you will.”
3) Elizabeth Olsen
Movies to watch her in: Martha Marcy May Marlene, Liberal Arts
I have been a big fan of Elizabeth Olsen’s ever since I first saw her in the 2011 indie film Martha Marcy May Marlene. She came out of nowhere, bursting onto the big screen with more talent than most seasoned actresses. Since then, she has appeared in many films, some of which were not so great; however, she always gives an impressive performance.
It looks like 2014 could be Elizabeth’s year; she stars in the highly anticipated summer blockbuster Godzilla, which has just hit theaters and she is set to star in the next Avengers film Age of Ultron, which will be released next spring.
4) Emma Watson
Movies to watch her in: the Harry Potter movies (obviously), The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Noah
Its no secret that everyone loves this girl, me included! And why wouldn’t we? She’s beautiful, intelligent, elegant, and very talented. Although she started out as a child star, playing Hermione Granger in the hit Harry Potter franchise, she has managed to avoid being typecast.
Some still probably associate her with the Hermione character, but she is definitely branching out (more so than her co-stars) and has since starred in a number of successful films. I believe her latest performance in Noah could garner her an Oscar nomination.
Character Study - Grace from Short Term 12
5) Brie Larson
Films to watch her in: Short Term 12, 21 Jump Street
Brie Larson first caught my attention in the film 21 Jump Street, where she played Molly, Jonah Hill’s adorable and quirky love interest. Her performance was seamless; she was so natural and confident in the role, managing to hold her own next to leading men Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
However, it was Brie’s performance in the 2013 sleeper Short Term 12 that truly blew me away. The actress starred as Grace, a tough yet compassionate counselor who works at a foster care facility for at risk teens, while also fighting her own demons. Brie’s brilliant performance as Grace definitely solidifies her place on this list. She has gotten my attention, and I can’t wait to see what she does next!
In an industry filled with budding new talent, these women are, in my opinion, the five who stand out.
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants.
